The Earth is our source, home, mother, provider.
Here we have our beginning and here will be our end.
We are an insignificant and short-lived existence. The Earth gives us everything, often more than we deserve.
I begin the “Earth Portraits” project with a series from around Luxor, Egypt. Lying on the banks of the Nile River, the patch of cultivated land allows for four harvests in one year.
There have been no significant changes in cultivation and harvesting patterns there for centuries. The whole project “Earth Portraits” planned for several cycles, I would like to realize by asking not only myself the question:
What is our relationship to the Earth, how do we understand it?
